Toon Town Photo Bomb (Editing Exercise #4)

I picked a frozen scene because it was easy to work with and to actual people in!! I choose my friends Piper and Chloe because they are both girls and there hair reminded me of Elsa and Anna's. they fitted perfectly in the picture. I have considered a career in movie making. It seems like a cool job to have, you get to do all kinds of different work.

Before the War (Editing Exercise #2)

I choose this photo because it is harder to see the details from far away which makes it an easier choice!! The hardest part of the whole project was to make everything blend. I have never retouched a photo probably because I'm not to good at it!! I would want to if it paid money and i knew how to do it, it seem like a lot of work but it also seems entertaining!!

Freak of Nature (Editing Exercise #1)

We choose to do use the two animals, a black cat and a black bear because they are the same colour and are simpler to do. The most challenging part was to try to make the two animals blend together, but the easiest part would be placing where the cat head belonged on the bear. It is some what realistic but its does look fake also do to the colour difference. We have not used photo editing before but i have to say the for our first time we did a pretty good job.

The Rule of Thirds

-The part I liked best about this camera technique is how with just a few simple movements you can have a much more appealing picture. This video real shows how you can be an amateur photographer and be able to take pictures that look great!!

Fill The Frame
- The on thing I really learned from this video is that the closer you get the better and more detailed the picture will be!! The picture will change completely just by seeing it in a closer view!!

Framing
- I never really realized just how many pictures are framed. it really does enhance the picture and it also changes the feeling of the picture all together. It seem very simple to do also!!

Point of View
- I already knew that you had to move around to get the right camera angle but i did not realize just how much it changed the picture.

Level Horizon
- I never knew just how important it is t make the picture level. this video told me that there is different ways to make the picture nice and levelled.

Digital Literacy Poster (final assignment)

     I did this poster on digital wellness because I found it to be the easiest topic for me to write about while doing the journal entries. I like the topic and agree whole-heatedly with everything I wrote which made this project a little more fun.  Digital wellness is a major issue with our modern economy so even though this is not a real poster if there is a slight chance I can make people change their ways. I hope some day the world will see that there is more to life than technology, there will be time to stare at nothing when you're dead so spend your life doing something worthwhile!

Journal Entry 3 (Digital Rights and Responsibilities)

     The commandments were reasonable and well thought out, everyone should follow them. The thing I find most surprising thing in this until is that some people take the risk of not following these rules. It is common sense that you should not steal and some people just do not seem to understand.

     Many people do not follow these rules and act responsibly online, although I cannot figure out why. Many people need to learn the time and places to act the way they do. If I could pick a commandment we did it would be "thou shalt not snoop around in other people's computer files." It makes me really mad when people are nosey and going though my stuff, I think it is just common courtesy.

     The biggest issue with young people these days online is that they do not think about the things they are doing. If they payed attention at all to the things they say or do online they might realize that they are hurting other people sometimes. I think they should be less self centred and look at the world around them to see that their actions are not always appropriate.

Assignment #2: CyberBullying (and Privacy)

1)Visit the site's page on "The Law and Reporting." What are two actions that can violate someone's privacy? 
Two acts that can violate someone's privacy are Non-Consensual Distribution of an Intimate Image and Voyeurism.

2) There are four other sections on this page about laws in Canada. Identify two of them and provide one example from each section that would be considered an unlawful act. 

Two other sections are Acts that Make Others Feel Unsafe. An example of this would be  Uttering Threats. This means threatening to hurt someone, damage their property or hurt an animal they own. Another section in this article is Acts that Hurt the Reputation of another Person. An example of this is Defamatory Libel. This is when  someone is making statements about another person that are likely to hurt their reputation or cause others to treat them badly or ridicule them (e.g. posting online that another person is a racist). 

3) Cite three examples on how you can report a potential crime. 

Three ways you can report a potential crime are: Search online for the agency that is responsible for policing in your area, Go to www.cybertip.ca/report to tell us about your concern, or make a phone call to the local detachment, let them know your age and tell them what has happened.

4)At the NeedHelpNow.com main page, there are eight sections (Learn More About...). Select two of them (we just explored "The Law and Reporting") and in a small paragraph provide some information about each section. Consider information that you think is helpful or you did not know about. The section on "Removing Pictures/Videos" is a very good resource. 

Removing pictures and videos has a selection of social media websites and provides a step by step walkthrough of how and what to do if you ever need to remove content from one of the websites (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Google, Other, or a peer's phone.)


Helping a friend is a section that discuses how to recognize and what to do when a friend needs help. In this section it talks about warning signs to tell if a friend needs help such as messages that indicate a feeling of hopelessness and being all alone or pulling away from activities normally enjoyed. It also talks about how to help and what to do if urgent help is needed and how to recognize when a friend needs urgent help. If someone you know is exhibiting any of these following behaviors:
Wanting to die (e.g. “The world would be better off without me”) and/or definitive statements of “I am going to kill myself” or “All my problems will end soon”

Saying goodbyes or giving away belongings (e.g. “I won’t be needing these things anymore”)

Statements of despair (e.g. “I just can’t take it anymore” or “I never do anything right”) or of feeling trapped (e.g. “This is never going to get better”)

Revengeful statements like “He’ll regret it” or “I’ll show them”

Glamorizing death (e.g. “Live fast, die young”)

Asking about how to get things like pills or weapons

You need to step in and help your friend immediately. You could take your friend to a hospital, call 911 or another crisis centre,  or reporting to a social networking site (e.g. Facebook or Instagram) if the concerns have been shared through these sites (and you don’t know the person offline.)

Don't let others write your story was a really empowering video that talks about taking control of your own life. I really enjoyed it and found it interesting to see the ways to take charge and live life to the fullest.




6)What is one way you could help promote the #ChangeTheStory campaign?

You could promote the #ChangeTheStory campaign the same way you could promote any organization, you could share a link on Facebook, tell a friend in need of motivation or positive energy, or put up posters in your local post office. I think the easiest way would be to tell a friend in need.

A SHORT EXCERPT:

-No, copying text for any reason is strictly prohibited. but if the text is reproducible that it is permitted. text such as works sheets can be!!

Yes. You can play sound recordings and turn on televisions and radios in the classroom, subject to all of the following conditions:

- Yes, you could as long as it is not used for commercial purposes.

4. The resulting user-generated content does not have a “substantial adverse effect” on the market for the original work.

12)Can a teacher or student rent or buy a dvd and show it in class? Explain.-The Copyright Act permits showing an audiovisual work such as a DVD or video on the premises of an educational institution provided the following five conditions are met:
1. The showing must take place on the premises of an educational institution.
2. The showing must be for an audience consisting primarily of students, instructors, or persons directly responsible for setting a curriculum.
3. The showing must be for educational or training purposes.
4. The showing must not be for profit.
5. The copy shown must not be infringing or the person responsible for the performance has no reasonable grounds to believe that it is an infringing copy.

13)Can a teacher or student copy a dvd or show at home and show that in class or school? Explain.

-No. Teachers cannot copy an audiovisual work at home and then show it in the classroom. Teachers can, however, show a legally obtained copy in the classroom. A legally obtained copy includes a copy purchased or rented from a retail store, a copy borrowed from the library, a copy borrowed from a friend, or a YouTube video.

14)Can the owner of computer software make a copy? Explain.

-An owner of a legitimate copy of a computer program may make one backup copy of that program.An owner of a legitimate copy of a computer program may also make a single copy of that program by adapting, modifying, or converting the computer program as long as his copy is erased when the person ceases to be the owner of the copy of the program from which the copy was made.

15)Can teachers and students copy from the Internet? Are there rules?

-Yes. Educational institutions, teachers, and students may save, download, and share publicly available Internet materials, as well as use that material in the classroom and communicate it to students or others within their education circle.

16)Are the works you create in school copyright protected? Explain how you feel about this.

- Yes the work we create in school is copyright protected.  I do like this so that we no that other people cant just steal or work. I mean we put in a lot of time on it and its only fair to us that other people cant take it.

17)Look at pg. 23 and examine the references given. Make up a FAKE book or story and practice making a reference for the book. Put the author, title, dates etc.... in the right spots. (You are going to try and copy the correct way to reference a book by making up fake info about a fake book and placing it in the right spot.)

Journal Entry #8: Digital Law

          We found this section very confusing. It was by far the hardest one we have done so far, not to mention it's length. There were a lot of questions that took a long time to locate their answers in the lengthy passage. We found the question about "Can teachers and students use audio or video for school projects at school? If so what are the rules? " to be very hard. We could not find the answer to the question in the article, we just had to skip it. It is surprising that there is so much contents in copyrights, there are a lot of rules involved. I didn't know that copyrighting was so complicated.

     I think that the manual Copyright Matters! is a good resource for young people, especially students. In school students get a lot of projects to do and many poeple will copy and paste things off google to make the project shorter or easier. They probably do not even know that they could be violating a copyright policy. This document will probably keep a lot of people from getting in truoble.

     What do you this is the biggest issue for young people when it comes to digital cyberbullying (and privacy). Place your answer to this question in bold as well.

     When it come to digital bullying I think the biggest problem is how seriosu people take things that might not even be intended to be mean. People also spend a lot of time on the internet and I think many of their probmens would be resolved by just logging off now and then.

Assignment #2: Privacy Please

Choose three of the situations below and make an argument for and against each one. Argue for each one using facts and your knowledge of right and wrong and then argue against it. Each statement should be brief (3-4 points or sentences). You can search online for information, but make sure to provide references for supporting materials.  Make sure to indicate which topic number you chose for each argument.

2-Voting should be done 100% online for both provincial and federal elections starting in 2017.

    Pros- It would be a lot faster and because of that more people might consider voting.

           - It might even be more efficient which would improve the quality of voting

           - It would be easier for people who live far away to vote and participate.

   

   Cons- If something were to happen and the power went out for a while there would be no way of voting or being involved with anything online.

           - Your losing the social aspects of voting.

           - You have less sense for who you are voting for, you cant really do presentations online and get the same effect as you do in person 

3-School report cards and daily attendance should be digital and passwords should be issued for parents to log in and check results.

    Pros- It would have a better effect on the student to know how she/he is doing through out the whole school year

           - It would be a lot more efficient for the schools to do this it would be less of a hassle for them.

           - Teachers would always have access to your marks so you, for parent teacher or any other event

    Cons- Parents might not be able to get a computer to use to check their child's marks.

            - You get used to one thing son much a lot of people might be against online report cards

            -  The students might not like it do to the fact that there parents can always see there mark even when the student is trying to bring up there mark before there parents can see it.

5-Digital textbooks should replace entirely paper textbooks by 2020 in New Brunswick.

    Pros- Would save trees which would make our air cleaner.

           - Probably would be cheaper for the school.

           - Could also have other options in them like video and sound.

    

    Cons- If a students does not have Internet access at home, then they do not have access to all these awesome resources.

            -When the Wifi doesn’t work in class, you are without a textbook. This is great fun when you have planned for the students to utilize them that day!

            -Students get easily distracted when using digital devices. If they are at school using the device, we are all tempted to click on interesting stories, videos, and pictures that then lead to more interesting stories, videos, & picture, and we look up an hour later to realize that our main objective was not completed.

Journal Entry #7: Digital Access

     I never post anything online, ever. I have always been concerned about posting things that seem stupid or that do not make sense or anything like that. I have always been cautious not to post anything too personal either because I don't want that information getting into the wrong hands. I have seen people post things and thought "that could come back and bite them some day." I always consider people going in to a job interview knowing that their Facebook has been thoroughly analyzed and judged. That picture you posted at that Black Sabbath concert from 6 years ago (you know, that one with your weed friendly buddy "Blaze" yeah, they defiantly not only looked at that picture but they looked him up too so they probably know you're friends with a dirty hippie so chances are you aren't getting that receptionist job at the police station. You should always limit your posts and be careful about the contents of the post, you never know who might be seeing it.

     The biggest issue with young people when it comes to digital access and privacy is that people do not realize how important it is to keep their posts clean and sensible. Most people never think their job interviewer will be looking at their Instagram or Facebook but they are and your job might depend on weather or not they like what they see, be careful.

1. Visit Paypal's website and scroll down to see the information about the service and determine what they do. IN ONE SENTENCE describe as much as you can about what Paypal does and why it is so popular.                                                                                                                                            -Paypal is a type of payment system for online purchases.
2. How does Paypal keep you safe while shopping at ALL OF THE ONLINE STORES that are possible to shop at these days? (think about your identity)                                                                    - When using Paypal you are at no risk of someone steal any of your credit card numbers or any other type of paying method.
3. How does Paypal make money if they aren't charging the buyer?                                                          -They make money from the stores they work with, they would get a small percentage of the equity.
4. If you buy something from Asia or Russia and it doesn't arrive how does Paypal protect you? This question may require Internet research.                                                                                            -If this did happen Paypal would look into the situation and reimburse you for the cost of the item and for the shipping.
5. If you started a business would you allow payment using Paypal? Why or why not?                         - Yes, I would because i feel that the customers would consider it a safer payment option and might consider using the website more often.
6. Visit https://www.google.ca/wallet and compare Paypal to Google Wallet OR Search for "APPLE PAY" and compare it to Paypal. Which do you prefer and why? Give 2 reasons.                                 -I would rather Paypal because i think it would more reliable and the service are by far more flexible.

Assignment #1: Shopping Carts

1. What are the 2 biggest reasons people still shop at stores?                                                                     a)There is no product disappointment- while shopping in a store you always know what you are getting!   b) You can socialize while shopping with friends- you have a good time!!
2. What are the 2 biggest reasons people shop online?                                                                             - So they won't have to leave they comfort of there own home!                                                                     - It is much easier to find things- the items are categorized
3. If you had the ability which buying experience would you prefer and why?                                         - I'm would prefer to go to the store just so that i no what I'm really getting. A lot of the time there is false advertisement on the web so i just think it is a simpler way. plus i like to socialize while shopping!!
4. Will online shopping be the only method in 2050 or will people gradually return to stores or strike a balance? Why?                                                                                                                                          -I believe that there will always be in store shopping because it is just the most simple thing to do if you do want to know what your getting. Plus as i think about it not everyone likes you using a debt card or a credit card so I think that you will always be able to shop at the store.
5. Canada Post has been crippled by the lack of letter sending due to social media and emails etc..... They have decided to focus now mainly on digital shopping and delivering the purchased products. Is this a smart business plan change? Why or why not?                                                       -Yes i do think this a smart business plan because even though a lot of people still shop in store, a lot of people still shop online to. So if you think about it there is still going to be a lot of advancements with technology so really it is the only way for them to keep there business going.
6. If something is wrong with your product it is far easier to return it to a physical store. Suggest one way that online shopping could make their return process easier for the buyer and make physical stores even less meaningful.                                                                                                       -There could be a an option online where if you needed to return your product you could just click a button next to your order form that say needs to be returned and a list of reasons why. It would just be a very quick and easy process to do.

Journal Entry #6: Digital Business

     I am not a big online shopper. I have ordered a few things but I would much rather go to the store and try on the clothes and get to see how they fit or if I think they flatter me or how comfortable they are. I have heard a lot of stories about people ordering things online and getting a completely different product or being very disappointed in the quality of the item they received. Things have often become lost in shipping and there are high charges of the shipping services. There is a sense of community or socialization while getting out and having a good time, if you never leave the couch you do not experience that satisfaction.

     Maybe I am just paranoid  but I do not think it is a good idea to just hand out your credit card information to any company that asks for it, there are a lot of cases of identity theft in recent years and the thieves obviously get the information somewhere. I do not think it is a good idea to ever release any kind of personal information online, but especially to websites you have no prior knowledge of and are not 100% sure it is safe.

     I have purchased a couple of things online but only from websites that have established my trust. I order jeans from Hollister (https://www.hollisterco.ca) and American Eagle (https://www.ae.com)  but other than that I strictly physically shop in store or order things out of catalogs like the Sears book.

     I think the biggest issue for young people when it comes to shopping or selling online is that many people do not pay enough attention to safety with their credit card information. If you are going to order something from a website you should always take a few minutes to look over the site to make sure it is legit, look for copyrights, ask a friend if they have ever heard of it etc. Always protect your identity while using online services. 

Assignment #1: One Mississippi.

How did seeing these distances in meter sticks make you feel about looking away from the road when driving and why? - While i was watching this video and they were showing me the math all i could not believe how far some one could go in one second. I don't think people realize how fast they are going and how far they going EVEN THOUGH they are only looking away for 1 second. Its not safe at all you go on average about 30 m/s. Think about 30 meters in one second. In fact know how many people do this and how far you can go without looking makes me feel very UNCOMFORTABLE to be on the road with people like that!!

  Watch this video and then give one reason this commercial is effective and one reason why it may not change anything. - One reason why this video is effective is because if someone seen that commercial they might realize how dangerous it is for them selves and and other people to do this. Im sure any sensible person would not want to put there life or anyone else's life in risk just to look at there phone and if realized how far they actually going in such a small amount of time they stop all together. -
One reason this commercial might not work is that if someone watched it and looked at it like a joke. if some one is not willing to look at something a different way then there is no point in trying to make them. I know we have to but its unlikely a bold headed will change there mind on something they don't think is a big deal!!

Think of an invention that can help keep drivers from being distracted and summarize it here. 

-The invention i choose to use is one where the phone would not be able to work while the vehicle is running. Now this invention wouldn't stop the music on your phone from working but it wouldn't allow your data to work while your phone is connected to your car. It probably wouldn't allow service either. I believe this would improve the safety of the people on the road a great deal. 

The next time you are in a car with a driver who is speeding or repeatedly distracted do you think you will speak up and attempt to correct the errors? Why or why not? -I will try to do my best to stop my parents or anyone else from looking at there phones while driving, also i will try to stop them from speeding too. Hopefully if i try to do it one time and explain the math to they will understand it is a very bad idea to do it!!

Journal Entry #5 (Digital Wellness)

     I found this section to be very truthful. I know that digital technology has forced its way into our world and is now a big part of our culture but I find it surprising how attached to it some people become. Many people in the younger generation would rather lose their firstborn child than their Snapchat streak and I think it is really sad. What has our world become? Some people feel the need to update their Facebook status's so often that they do not even take the time to enjoy their self or take in the scenery around them. They are so focused on the digital world that they are "too busy" to stop and smell the roses. I find this so stupid because you only live once, you will never be in the same moment twice so you should make the most of every second. That post will always be there, you can see it later. That text will still be there in an hour or two and the person who sent it will understand that your phone does not become you and technology does not control your life. (If they do not comprehend this then you should distance yourself from that person anyway.) If you would rather look at your Instagram than life and the great unknown ahead of you that's your choice but I think it is a huge waste!

     The biggest issue for young people when it comes to Digital Wellness is knowing how to limit their use and do other things in life as well. A solution would be to leave your phone home every once in a while or even just turn it off. Even going a day without it every week or a few hours less every day. You have to get out and do things and get some exercise, obesity can be morbid so you may think you are in perfect health but chances, are you are not. Many young people also are under thee impression that things they see online are truly important or matter in the real world, but really- who cares! The less you use digital technologies the better, do not waste your time thinking these things are important. 

Assignment #2: The Pledge

 
     Many people let digital technology take over their lives. Obesity is a major problem especially here in New Brunswick. For example, my uncle Herb lives in Fredericton and tells me all the time about all the overweight people he had encountered. He also has noted that about 40% of the obese people he sees look to be in their teens or early twenties. Not only does he see these people walking up the street with some type of food in their hand, they are also glued to their electronic devices. I have seen people almost walk out in front of cars because they were paying more attention to their phones than the road. I have also seen a lot of people texting and driving. These technologies may be helpful in some aspects of life but they also pose a serious threat. Texting and driving is one of the highest causes of car accidents in Canada, right behind impaired driving. Obesity is another high cause of death in Canada, it is as dangerous and as lethal as car accidents. Both of these things can be linked to digital technologies and are both highly preventable.

     I pledge to further limit my use of technology to half an hour per day (should not be difficult considering how little I already use these services), decrease my television watching habits by up to 50%, and try to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day as well as eating a healthier diet. I will not let any of these things claim my life because they are all treatable and preventable. If you make habits at a young age they are easier to keep throughout your entire life. I plan to have a long and healthy life and I do not need computers or cellular devices to accomplice this goal.

Journal Entry #4 (Netiquette)

     Most people never bother to read the Terms of Agreement, therefore they have no idea what they just agreed to after clicking "I Agree". They could have just given Apple the permission to foreclose their homes or take fresh produce from their garden and no one would know any better. However, while it is just as stupid to agree to terms you have not read as to sign a legal document you have never seen, it is not all the fault of the reader (or non-reader) of the document because the companies who create these documents know that very few people will know what anything means anyway. Take geo-tracking for example, they say the purpose is to "improve our services, content and advertising," but what it really is is permission to track your phone wherever you go and keep track of your coordinates for wherever you go all the time. Unless you want to be fallowed everywhere you go all the time or agree to other terms such as these, you should always read everything you agree to, not just electronically, but in any form.

     The thing I found most surprising (while I am not at all shocked that companies are taking advantage of people who choose not to read their terms of service agreements) I am surprised at the amount of people who do not care what they agree to or what major corporations such as Apple can do to them just because they were too lazy to take a few minutes to read a document. I am quite sure that if everyone actually read the Terms of Agreement very few people would click "I Agree".

     The biggest issue when it comes to NETiquette among young people is that many people are not aware of the danger they may be in, never reveal any personal information or agree to terms you have not read. 

Online Discussion Boards (Assignment #3

How are many of the guidelines similar to how we expect other people to act if they were face to face? Explain. -These guide lines are very similar to if you were trying to talk face to face. After reading over all of the guide lines I can agree with all of them. I do not believe they are asking a lot out of anyone, and I think anyone with common sense would get that. For example: if some one typed in all capitals while commenting on something, it is similar to screaming in real life and really if we are all being honest here no sensible person likes being screamed at!!

Cite at least four guidelines that you feel are extremely helpful and necessary when interacting with other in an online discussion. Explain your choices. -Guide lines that i believe are most important: think that if nobody wants to be mean to so i think that is why i find this one important!! 10-This one again goes back to cyber bullying and how it absolutely should not happen!! 14- Everyone deserve forgiveness and if you do have a problem with them private message them!!! 15- It doesn't look good when you have grammatical errors so always try to correct them!!

Have you ever made comments on an online discussion board? If so, was it a positive or negative experience? Discuss. -I have never made comments on a discussion board and I don't know if i ever will. If i am being honest don't really want to just because what I've seen on Facebook and other groups are just people fighting and I know that there is probably more proper discussions then I've seen. So i think that if there was one were everyone isn't fighting I would be more then happy to join in on the discussion!!                                   

 

Do you think you would enjoy a course where you could discuss issues online with other students? Explain why or why not. - No I don't think I would like it as much as doing things in person. I think that it is important to do hands on work. I do better when doing face- face stuff work and believe that I would not do as good. I guess I would try though, maybe it would work out and I just don't know it yet!!

ONLINE STANDARDS OF SEVICE USE (Assignment One)

    1) Find 5 companies that use the terms and service agreements or have major conditions before use (ex. iTunes, Facebook, etc...)

 Five companies that have terms and service agreements or have major conditions are: Facebook, iTunes, Instagram, Netflix, Sony (PlayStation Network)

2) Search the internet for forums discussing safety of terms and service agreements and see if you can find FIVE services that teens should look into further or consider further before continuing to sign up. The Internet will have some sources that are very credible and others that are not, so make sure to find sources that look professional and don't take "Sally from Texas" as a professional unless you feel credentials have been proven.

One company whose terms of service you have probably already agreed to but should not is iTunes. The reason it is so long is because of all the ridiculous things they want you to agree to, such as geo tracking. This means that once you agree, Apple is able to see your precise location. The location data your phone has been storing is sent to a hidden database file and syncs the information to your computer every time you connect your phone to it. Basically, this means that somewhere hidden on your computer is a log of everywhere you've been with a coordinate and a time stamp. Apple says that the purpose of geo tracking is to "improve our services, content and advertising," but I think they're just nosey (or they're trying to take over the world.) 

3) Report your findings in a blog post. Title it "Online Standards of Service Use: (Assignment #1)". Remember to always provide links to your sources.

Digital Etiquette, Assignment #2: "Netiquette" Do As I Say

Make a list of FIVE reasons/facts that will make YOU choose the right way of doing things in digital society.

- If you do choose to do things the wrong way in a digital society you could possibly end up going to jail!!

- I don't want to get into trouble for what I do online.

- I want to make the online world better.

- I want to be respected and will respect other people online.

- The people who make the websites work hard at them and I want to keep there website a safe place online.

Digital Communication Journal Entry #2

       Digital communication is becoming more and more popular all the time. When I was a little kid I never used much technological devices, I watched my movies on VHS, we only got our first flat screen television a couple of years ago and all I ever did was play outside. I never wanted to come inside and I loved to visit with relatives and friends. My grandparents house was my favourite place to go because it is right on the river and there are family members scattered all around so all I had to do was walk up the road to visit with someone. I thought this was great because I loved face-to-face interaction (the only non face-to-face communication I ever used was talk on the phone anyway) I also loved to play in the brook with my cousins, swim in the river, go for walks in the woods, and run around the field by the barn. I didn't even want to come inside when it was raining. I would run around bare foot and jump in the mud holes or just dance in the rain like a crazy person. I would like to point out that people have survived without the digital aspects of life for over a million years and it scares me how dependant our world has become in the last few years. The entire world shuts down when there is no power. No one even has wood stoves in their house anymore so if there's no power in the winter they could freeze to death. No one can cook, most people cannot preform their jobs, and since no one owns candles anymore, they often have no source of light. I am proud to say that we still have all the things that are necessary to survive with no power. I would much rather live with no power actually. My brothers however, are only six years younger than I am and are completely dependant on technology. They hate to visit my grandparents because they can't watch videos or play games, they do not want to sit and talk with the adults but will only stay outside for a couple of minutes at a time. Life without electricity to them is completely impossible. Older people often talk about the younger generation, but it's more the younger half of this generation. The thing that surprises me most about digital communications is how dependant people become on it over the last couple of years.

         This video taught me that it is considered completely barbaric and rude to take longer than 24 hours to respond to an e-mail. I find this completely ridiculous because most people have better things to do than pace the floor and wait for an e-mail. If someone ever raked me for taking longer than 24 hours to respond to an e-mail I would be hysterical! it is completely unreasonable to expect the average person to check their e-mail all the time. In my opinion, unless you are a business-head or expecting big news via e-mail, you should not have to check it more than once a week.  Another thing the video taught me was that digital edict is just as important as table manners in the modern world, and can say just as much about you too.  This, once again, shows how dependant our world had become on digital communications.

       
        For emailing, you use carbon copy when you want to copy others publicly, and blind carbon copy when you want to do it privately. Anyone who receives a Bcc email are not visible to others on the email. I think you would use this when a staff member is sending out an e-mail to the rest of the employees at the establishment. Another example would be sending out invitations to an event to a number of people. 

        The most important thing for young people to remember while using digital communications is: DO NOT TALK TO ANYONE YOU DO NOT KNOW. It can be very dangerous to talk to strange people other the internet, especially since they could have hidden their true identity. You should also NEVER RELEASE PERSONAL INFORMATION OF ANY KIND. People have ways of finding you and it could cause serious security and safety threats.

-Easy to mix signals and data using digital techniques.

-Internet is spread almost in every cities and towns. The compatibility of digital communication systems with Internet has opened new area of applications.
-High speed computers and powerful software design tools are available. They make the development of digital communication systems flexible.

Digital information disadvantages
- Uses a lot of power
- Introduced sampling error
- Needs synchronization
- More complex circuit, more sophisticated device making.

3)What are the three most popular forms of digital communication today and why do you think they are popular? 
Three popular forms of digital communication are:
- Snapchat
- Texting
- Facebook messenger
I believe these are probably the most popular digital communications because all i ever use now a days is these three networks for communicating and that all my friends and family use also.


4)What three forms of digital communication may not be around much longer and why do you think they are going to disappear or become irrelevant?

Three forms of digital communication that i believe will disappear or become irrelevant is:

- Faxing

- Paging

- Kik

5)Can you list five locations or scenarios in real life where you really SHOULD NOT be communicating digitally and suggest WHY?

You should not be communicating digitally in these situations:

- While driving because it is dangerous

- While sitting at a funeral because that is very disrespectful

- While at a wedding because this is also disrespectful and rude

- While your working because you arent getting paid to be on your phone

- While you are being talked to by anyone because it is very rude

6) Spend some time online researching dangerous digital communication then answer: In your mind which TWO forms of digital communication represent the greatest DANGER to your personal health and safety and why? 

The two digital communication that I find the most dangerous would have to be facebook messenger and texting. I find these two thing very dangerous because there might be people you don't know message you things and be inappropriate or threatening. We never know what is out there or who is out there so I believe these to are the biggest hazards.

7)Do you think human kids will continue to be more and more connected or will people eventually find their own healthy balance?

I believe kids are going to become more connected to technology. I believe this because even now I find kids are becoming more and more connected to their phones and they might only be 6, 7, or 8. When i was there age would fight with my parents because I wanted to stay outside so bad, so i definitely think things are becoming more technology based with children.

8)When a person dies, is too sick or injured to communicate or for any other reason avoids all digital communication; what should happen to their accumulated online communications and records of internet activity? What is your solution to this growing problem?
Ex. If someone passes away and they have Facebook, Twitter, Websites, Cell Phones what should be done and who should be responsible to do it?

I believe that all digital communication accounts should be archived or maybe even deleted for so many different reasons. One reason probably being; Say a family member has passed and they had Facebook, that person's family probably don't want to see set family member in their birthday notification from Facebook. I believe that it is the family's decision on if they want to delete it or not. I think the the only solution is for either Facebook to delete the person if or the family .

Acronyms attack assignment #2

Acronyms Attack

1)Can you think of THREE MORE school appropriate additional acronyms (or abbreviations) that can help save time during a digital conversation if the other party is aware of the acronym? Create new ones if you can't.

- I cannot really think of a whole lot of acronyms that would need to be created. I am not the most tech-savvy person around, and I do not use a lot of acronyms, I usually type out the full words. It only takes another second or so and it makes a lot more sense, sometimes if you use abbreviations, people ask you what they mean and you have to explain it anyway, so I just eliminate that extra step. One thing I say to my friends all the time is Stay Gold Ponyboy, so maybe "SGP" could be one? My friends and I always torment each other really bad, and say "Who asked you anyway?" Even if we just asked that person a question, so maybe we could start saying "WAY?" Another one could be "SC" (stay cool) or "POM" (peace out man.) (They call me a conservative hippie for a reason!)  I am quite old fashioned, so I am not really a good person to ask about acronyms, I do not even know what the ones that already exist mean.



2)List four places where you would NEVER use acronyms (or abbreviations) when communicating digitally. For Example: On a digital resume.

- One place I would consider it completely inappropriate to use acronyms would be in any type of formal writing (eg; a resume, a project, legal documentations etc.) In my opinion the only place acronyms are appropriate is in social media or texting. Some doctors use shortened versions of long medical terms and procedures, and they go to school for years and years to learn all that they know so as long as they are qualified it would be acceptable in that aspect as well.

Journal Entry 1 (digital security)

       
      Digital security was a fun section to do. It taught us about passwords and their strengths, and showed us what a good and bad password might be. I thought it was really interesting to see all the different symbols and numbers, no wonder it takes so long for people to figure out a strong password, they're confusing as frig and I don't understand how anyone could ever remember them.


 The thing I found most surprising with digital security is how long it would take for a computer to figure out certain passwords. Such as "TMLLo$343vaKid$" it said it would take a computer 621 centuries to figure that one out, but the one I put in would take 69 days. I found the passwords themselves really confusing, and I don't really know how anyone figures them out. I thought it was very difficult to think of a password that was considered a "strong password." I'm not very good with computers and technology stuff and I highly doubt anyone will ever use a computer to figure out my passwords, I don't see the point. According to the password checker my passwords are not secure at all, but I'm not sure how realistic the expectations of that website are. I do't see anyone ever using a decoding device to get into my cell phone and i don't really use social media, I don't have anything that worth hiding that anyone would ever want to find out that bad on my phone.

The most important thing to remember with passwords is not to tell anyone what yours is. Another thing to keep in mind is use numbers/ symbols in them and try not to use anything too simple. 

Digital security (assignment 1)

Would you say the passwords listed as the worst are easy to guess or hard to guess and why?
-There are some passwords on that list that might be sufficient. Putting in the numbers 1243456 is not going to cut it. I would say that most of the numbers on this list are very simple and easy to guess. They if its really easy for you to remember then more then likely they are probably easy to get into also!!

Have you ever used any of these passwords? If yes how do you feel about this list? If NO why not?                                                                                                                - I have never used any of these passwords. I always used something personal that I knew I would remember, but no one would guess. I have three passwords that I alternate between, so when I need access to whichever website I'm trying to use i just try all my usual passwords until I get the right one. Adding another password would only complicate things, and using one so simple could cause problems.

3)Do you think seniors and adults are more likely to use these passwords? What can we do to save them some disastrous consequences if they do?
- I do think that seniors might use these passwords more often than most people, but, adults probably use harder ones, at least not ones that simple. It also depends on the person, some people may not be able to think of a password that meets the length requirement so they might use one such as "123456789", other people would never use a password as simple as that, its more a question of personal options.

4)Can you think of three extra horrible passwords not found on this list?
- Sometimes people use their name or their birthday, maybe their crushes name, if anyone knows any of this information it is the first thing they'll try when trying to figure out your password. Another stupid thing to use is a pets name, I have a friend who's password for everything was *her dogs name*123. Another friend's password was "password"I thought that was exceptionally stupid.

5)How long should a modern password be to be called strong? (This might be a trick quest) 
- I don't think it's necessarily the length that makes something a strong password, it depends more on the contents of the password. ex: some people can think of a 3 digit code that would be more secure than a 10 letter password someone else would think of.

6)If you are using any passwords similar to these make sure to go home tonight or use some time right now to change these passwords to something less risky and more secure. THIS IS IMPORTANT HOMEWORK !
- I would never use a password this simple, I always use a combination of number and letters with a personal meaning, no one would ever figure out.
